Batam Industrial Park, located on Batam Island, Indonesia, is one of the country's most important export processing zones, hosting hundreds of multinational manufacturing companies across various industries including electronics, precision machinery, medical devices, and automotive components. The industrial park is a significant outcome of Indonesia-Singapore bilateral economic cooperation, benefiting from export processing incentives provided by the Indonesian government. The Factory Complex project aims to provide complete MEP infrastructure for new and expanded manufacturing facilities within the park.
Burkaf partnered with Waskita Karya, one of Indonesia's largest state-owned construction EPC contractors, to provide hot-dip galvanized cable trays and metallic conduits for the factory complex within the industrial park. The products needed to meet the demanding requirements of long-term use in Batam's humid, corrosive marine environment.
Humid and Corrosive Environment: Located near the equator, Batam Island has a tropical rainforest climate with year-round high temperatures and high humidity. As an island, the air has high salt content, presenting severe challenges for corrosion resistance of metal products.
Marine Atmospheric Corrosion: The industrial park's proximity to the coast subjects it to long-term marine atmospheric corrosion, making standard galvanized products inadequate for long service life requirements.
Differing Requirements Across Multiple Factory Types: The park hosts factories in various industries including electronics, machinery, and medical devices, each with different electrical installation standards, requiring products with broad applicability.
International Standards for Export Processing Zone: As an export processing zone, factories in the park primarily serve international markets, requiring electrical installations to comply with international standards for customer factory audits and product export certifications.
Coordination with Waskita Karya: As one of Indonesia's largest state-owned construction EPC contractors, Waskita Karya imposes strict requirements on supplier quality management and project delivery.
Burkaf provided hot-dip galvanized cable trays and metallic conduits for this project, fully addressing the electrical installation requirements in Batam Industrial Park's humid, corrosive environment.
